Welcome to my March 2014 Stock Gain & Loss Report!<\/p>\n

Every month I will post my stock gains and losses.<\/p>\n

I barely beat the S&P 500’s return this month mostly because of a mistake I made in the past.<\/p>\n

Back in August of 2013, I was anxious to buy anything that seemed good. I felt like my money was just sitting there and that I may have been missing the boat. So I ended up buying a large amount of IBM stock even though the Beat The Market Analyzer<\/a> told me that it was overpriced.<\/p>\n

I should have been more patient and had just waited a few weeks until a good company at a bargain price came along. Instead, I hastily purchased IBM and ended up holding if for about 7 months just waiting for it to return to my buying price. Finally in March, it was close enough to my buying price, so I sold it at a loss. I was just happy to get out of the overpriced stock without losing too much. I also knew that there were other great companies at bargain prices that I could reinvest that money in.<\/p>\n

So IBM put me in the red with a loss, but fortunately, I sold some Chevron (CVX) and was able to offset my mistake of IBM and come out with some profit in March.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, I will remember this lesson. The next time I feel anxious to buy anything, I will think of this moment and try to be more patient and wait for a good company that is at a bargain price. I hope that my mistake will also be helpful for you to avoid the same error.<\/p>\n

Why do I post this information online?<\/p>\n

I do it for 3 main reasons:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. To be transparent.
I like to be up-front and show you that I’m a real person who actually invests in the stock market.<\/p>\n

2. It’s nice to brag about good months and get positive feedback during those not-so-good months.<\/p>\n

3. I hate being told that I can’t do something and stock investing is just another area where people have told me: “You couldn’t possibly do well. What do you know about stocks?” etc.<\/p>\n

I want to prove that everyday people like myself can take control of their own finances, start investing with a common-sense approach, and produce better than average results.<\/p>\n
